Mantel Clock by Smiths Enfield

Image
Do you know what clock this is? It's a Smiths Enfield mantel clock. What I don't know is the exact model number and I would really like to know the exact year of production. I have scoured the web and find many Smiths Enfield clocks but not this particular one. It is in fair shape and it actually works which is good for a an English clock made in the early 50s. I know that the company is no longer in business but it is a pretty simple clock that should be easy to repair and service. I don't think it has ever been serviced which is typical for these types of mantel clocks of the period.

9.9 Mercury

Image
One of my acquisitions last summer was an outboard motor for the summer cottage. Now, an outboard is a nice thing to have in a fresh water lake. It allows you to fish, go for a little tour, visit the neighbors and generally have a little fun. I picked up a 9.9 Mercury Outboard for what I thought was a pretty decent price and I really enjoyed having it for the summer season (2012) at the lake. I think that there are a lot of other really good brands out there but I had a 5hp Mercury in the past and it has been a faithful companion so I had no trouble moving up to a 9.9hp Mercury motor. Anyway, I plan to do a little fishing this summer and having a fast boat is not such a bad thing!

Peggy's Cove

Peggy's Cove is located on the old Lighthouse route about 35 minutes west of Halifax. As you can see these are summer photos but this scene would not look all that much different in late February. Still it is quite beautiful and it is one of the premier tourist attractions of Nova Scotia. So often I yearn to see the sites of the US and Europe but don't stop to realize that we have our own splendid wonders in the province of Nova Scotia.
