Our deer friends |
We spent a wonderful weekend at our cottage in the Gatineau Hills just outside Ottawa. The weather was very good and at least it stayed double digits throughout the weekend. It was not the warmest weekend we have encountered over the years but it was pleasant nonetheless. The warmest day was Monday and sadly it was the day we were leaving. At 6am it was 14C and managed to warm up to a very warm 26C by midday.

This weekend our oldest daughter flew in from Calgary and our son joined us as well. Our other daughter was unable to joins us but maybe next year.

With neighbors and close family together we had a great Thanksgiving dinner. Halfway through the meal we ran out of gas so the cooking became a bit of a challenge. Well, you need heat to cook, right!. Thanks to the generosity of our neighbors we managed to get the remainder of the meal cooked to perfection. it was all topped off by a delicious carrot cake.

A yearling |
A young deer attracted to bits of apple and carrots. Too bad hunting season is about to begin.

The fall colours make for some excellent shots. Here I am taking a shot across our lake with my 45-175 medium telephoto Panasonic X Vario lens. This was shot at 175mm, ISO 800 at f5.6 and 1/250s.

Our little 5hpMercury was pulled out for the weekend and it allowed us to motor on the lake. We were not alone as there were several boaters out and about this weekend.
